Cycling in Bhutan combines quiet mountain roads, rural tracks, long climbs and thrilling descents through rapidly changing landscapes. It can be the main purpose of a trip or a series of carefully selected rides within a cultural journey. A support vehicle lets riders skip unsuitable sections, carry spare equipment and rejoin the programme without pressure.
Because road surfaces, traffic and construction change, routes should be checked close to departure. Daily distance alone does not describe difficulty: elevation gain, altitude, road quality, weather and repeated bends all affect the ride.

Use a properly fitted helmet and high-visibility layers. Riders should carry gloves, eye protection, water, sun protection and weatherproof clothing. Technical mountain biking requires a guide familiar with the trail and participants with appropriate skills. The vehicle must remain reachable where the road permits.
